Bagasse

Bagasse is another waste product of the sugar manufacturing process. It is the fiber left behind when sugarcane stalks are crushed. It is used as a fuel source for sugar mills themselves for producing renewable energy thereby reducing the usage of fossil fuels and contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases.

Bagasse is also used in making sustainable disposable food ware and is a substitute for wood in many tropical and subtropical countries for the production of eco-friendly paper such as India, Argentina and Colombia.
