Bridging the literacy gap in Badgau Village

In Badgau, Tulsipur, many adults including parents of college-going students were unable to sign their names and instead relied on thumb impressions, which affected their sense of dignity and participation in their children’s education. To address this, BCML’s Adult Literacy Programme created opportunities for motivated youth like Mohini to contribute meaningfully to their communities. In collaboration with the Rotary Foundation (India), BCML launched the initiative, appointing Mohini as an Akshar Sathi to lead a Vidya Center. Adult learners such as Sunita, Anita, and Suhasini soon joined her classes. After completing 60 sessions, Suhasini can now proudly sign her name. The programme continues to foster dignity, self-reliance, and community participation while empowering young changemakers to drive social transformation.
